Job Description

The Role

Reporting to the Chief Participant Experience and Practice Officer, the Behaviour Support Team Leader is responsible for providing leadership and mentoring to Mercy Connect’s Specialist Behaviour Support team. The Team Leader also has responsibility for all components of Behaviour Support delivery including carrying a client caseload.

The role must ensure behaviour support is delivered to participants according to best practice and within the scope of each person’s plan.  The team leader will work closely with the team to achieve output targets and organisational goals, while promoting best practices and strong stakeholder relationships.

About You

You will be an experienced leader who has the proven ability to manage a high performing team in a challenging service environment in a values-based organisation.  You must have explicit knowledge of Positive Behaviour Support Principles including Functional Behaviour Assessments, development of Behaviour Support Plans and relevant implementation processes.  Additionally, you will have demonstrated understanding of current best practice positive behaviour support and complex behaviours.
 

Desired Skills and Experience

Skills and Experience
•    Tertiary qualifications in Psychology, Speech Pathology, Social or Behavioural Sciences or other relevant discipline.
•    A minimum of 3 years’ experience in behaviour support programming with people with intellectual disability, brain injury and/or learning difficulties.
•    Minimum registration as an Advanced Practitioner with the NDIS Commission.
•    Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
•    Proven ability to successfully role model and train staff to apply behaviour change / management techniques.
•    Capability to manage time and find efficiencies in order to maximise team outputs in a time-limited service environment.
 

Other requirements:
•    NDIS Worker Clearance
•    NDIS Worker Orientation Module Certificate
•    Current WWCC for both NSW and Vic
•    Current driver’s licence.
